Let's
Explore LopArt Together!
YEAR: Preschool
DURATION: Determined by the teacher
OUTLINE: Children discuss what they know about computers
and electronic mice. They manipulate the mouse to the sound of a
nursery rhyme or counting song. Following a basic demonstration
by the teacher, they are invited to make images while exploring
LopArt. The discoveries of each child are noted and named as the
different functions of LopArt are explored. By naming their
discoveries with the help of the teacher, the children enlarge their
vocabulary and build their knowledge. Finally, the group
opens a gallery.

Autumn Trees
YEAR: Grade 1
DURATION: Three 45-minute periods
OUTLINE: The pupils are first invited to take a few minutes
to draw a tree using traditional materials on paper, without any particular
artistic guidance. This drawing will be compared with the final production
during the integration phase of the activity. The pupils are then
encouraged to observe the trees in the immediate environment of
the school. They will discover the textures of bark, the different
sizes of the branches and the way the leaves cover or reveal the
branches. They then use LopArt to draw trees using the different
tools available to them (stroke width, colors, textures, half-tones).
Next they compare their images with the drawings produced at the
beginning of the activity. Finally reproductions of paintings are
examined to see how artists have tackled the same subject.
